Tasveer Ghar: A Digital Archive of South Asian Popular Visual Culture

Dr. Muhammad Asghar holds PhD in Design Sciences (German: Designwissenschaften) from Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel (Germany) and an MSc in Print and Publishing from Stuttgart Media University in Stuttgart (Germany). He has received research grant from Higher Education Commission of Pakistan as Principal Investigator to study on Popular Visual Culture in domestic and public space in Pakistani Punjab in 2016. He recently published his book “The Sacred and the Secular” Aesthetics in Domestic Spaces of Punjab/Pakistan” with LIT Verlag. Having a background of art and design, his research interests have come to converge on questions relating to South Asia particularly Pakistani art, design and visual culture as well as cultural anthropology. He works as an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Art and Design, Government College University 38000 Faisalabad, Pakistan.
